Koru will be at HLTH 2025, Las Vegas, October 19-22! Booth #V-1726
Give us brilliant AI and we’ll give you healthcare experiences your competitors can't replicate.

If there's one thing we've learned over 14 years, it's that great
engineering creates possibility, but great design creates adoption. No
amount of brilliant AI can make up for a bad UX.

We've shipped 1,500+ projects and touched the lives of more than one million patients, clinicians and providers. When you partner with Koru, it's like having your own dedicated UX department — one that's navigating the bleeding edge of AI and agentic design with the industry's leading healthcare technology companies.

HONORABLE MENTION
Are UX bottlenecks slowing innovation and feature releases as your product suite grows?
Are you looking to rapidly prototype and launch new features or standalone applications?
Are you looking to meet the needs of diverse users through more inclusive and accessible design (including WCAG)?
Do you need support navigating healthcare compliance requirements and designing HIPAA-compliant user workflows?
Do you need to break down complex requirements into clear, prioritized sprints – and reliably deliver on time, within budget, and to your exact specifications?
Are you struggling to resource and scale your UX efforts to match your roadmap?
Have acquisitions and growth led to design debt building up across your products, and do you need a UX audit to identify where it’s impacting the user experience?
Are you building AI or agentic features but unsure how much autonomy to give them, what controls users need, or how to design for compliance and trust from day one?
Are you looking for a seamless way to scale your UX team, so the work gets done without the headaches of recruiting, retaining, and managing A-players?
Have you experienced difficulty finding and retaining skilled UX designers with deep healthcare expertise to meet growing UX requirements?
If these challenges sound familiar, it's time to transition from project-based UX to a scalable, embedded UX practice.

Build a cohesive, scalable UX practice. By embedding with your team, we handle the heavy lifting - designing, iterating, and scaling with the agility and precision your roadmap demands. Think of us as your UX department, without the HR headaches.
Unlike most UX agencies our designers integrate seamlessly into your teams, working directly within your systems. We can manage hundreds of touchpoints within your organization and still ensure rapid turnarounds, clear feedback loops, and smooth collaboration to keep your projects on track.
Designing intelligent healthcare experiences isn't just about adding AI features - it's about strategic decisions around autonomy, transparency, control and trust. We help you design AI UX and navigate decisions like: how much independence to give the system, what controls users need, how to design for collaboration not just automation, and how to build for compliance from day one.
Having worked with some of the biggest names in healthcare technology, we know compliance, security, and privacy comes first. These priorities shape everything we do and we'll bend over backwards to meet your requirements.
With Koru, recruiting award-winning UX designers is no longer your problem. From finding specialists to scaling your team, we handle it all - allowing you to focus on innovation, not logistics. Our approach eliminates design bottlenecks and ensures you always have the capacity you need to meet your ambitious product roadmap. (Learn more about our UX design process.)
We understand the constraints of complex, technical software. Our approach to Enterprise UX work within the limitations of legacy systems, staying on brief to deliver pragmatic solutions that fit your scope and goals — without compromising quality or functionality.
Our embedded model isn't just about filling design capacity, it's about becoming an extension of your team. See how we integrate into your workflows, sprint cycles and strategic UX decisions.
How We Design Modern
Healthcare Products That Work
Define what level of independence each feature needs. Administrative tasks like scheduling? Higher independence makes sense. Clinical recommendations? Users need to stay in control. Match the level of automation to what's at stake, document why you made that choice, and build in flexibility so you can adjust as you learn what works.
Users need to know what's happening. Design so they can clearly see when AI is involved, what decisions were made and why, what's happening right now, which data influenced outputs, and what the system can't do. Transparency isn't a feature you add later—it's built into the foundation.
The riskier the action, the more control users need. Low-stakes tasks run automatically with a review option. Medium-stakes actions notify users and let them intervene. High-stakes decisions require explicit approval. Always include ways to pause, stop, override or undo – because autonomous doesn't mean unstoppable.
Define where AI adds value (processing scale, pattern recognition, routine tasks) and where humans are essential (judgment, context, novel situations). Design smooth handoffs between the two, preserving context so users and AI work together rather than fighting each other.
Great AI that disrupts workflows won't get used. Embed intelligence into existing tools, minimize clicks for high-value actions, balance helpful suggestions against notification fatigue, and support iteration—because users rarely get it right on the first try.
Involve actual users from day one, explain reasoning in language they understand, test with real-world scenarios (not just ideal cases), monitor how the system performs in production, and address problems quickly when they surface. Trust comes from demonstrated reliability, not promises.
Identify which regulations apply, document design decisions and data sources, build audit capabilities from the beginning (not as an afterthought), and plan for ongoing monitoring. This prevents expensive rebuilds when regulators ask questions.
